Frequently bought together vs. Upsells. Is it either one or the other?

I like the Frequently Bought Together function and so far so good.
But I don’t want to have this functionality on every single page (i.e. to have to set up a bundle that is linked to the product the user has clicked on).

Is there any way that on the product page, in some cases that Upsells can still show where there’s no frequently bought products? Or is it either one of these…either FBT or Upsells? I don’t feel it’s right to bombard the customer all the time to buy more and more on every single page, so some upsells/related products (something that is similar to the product) would be good in some cases. Is a bit cumbersome to have to set up bundles for every single product to have something else to show/sell.

I see Cross-sells only works on the cart page which doesn’t help.

The Frequently Bought Together (FBT) isn’t intended to be used for every Product. You can add the FBT Product Bundle to those Products on which you want to add FBT. To those on which you don’t want, you can show Related Products which can be enabled by going to the Dashboard > Theme Settings > Single Product > Related & Upsells > there you can enable it: https://ibb.co/5hsJxfD

Further, if you want to specifically show Related Products on a Product, then you need to edit that Product > scroll down to Product data area > there open the Linked Products sub-tab > in that you can define the Upsells: https://ibb.co/zbFWWTd

In this way, you can specifically define Related Products for an individual Product.

Oh hang on…it’s enabled in Theme settings…but in the page layout…am I supposed to have both FBT and Related products here? Or neither, that it should be manually steered from inside each product? Otherwise both will always show on each page…

At the moment, my page product layout looks like the screenshot. i.e. FBT ALWAYS shows as part of the product page template. I assume this isn’t quite right… should it be blank below the product in the layout and steered from each product whether it’s FBT or Related products? Argh, sorry…I feel 100 years old and don’t geddit! 🙁

When I add products grid or carousel, I only get the choice of Cross sell for related products and nothing shows in Elementor or on the front (see screenshot 1 and 1a in the backend of WordPress).

In other templates there are other options, I don’t have the option for these other upsell/related options (see the screenshot ‘how to get these options’). I tried to make whole new layout and copy the section to my current layout, but it didn’t work.

How can I get these other options, so I can have related products show by default? Regardless of whether I toggle ‘Hide related products’ (either On or Off) in the product options, nothing shows. (See screenshot 1a)

So, as far as we are seeing we can’t seem to find any issues with that.
