Google pay button not displaying on checkout page.

Usually when using gpay (through the stripe plugin) the gpay button would appear at the top of the checkout page so users know they dont have to scroll down and fill out all their details. The button appears fine on the single product and cart pages, just not the checkout. All three options (single prod, cart, checkout) are ticked to display it in the “Show express checkouts on:” page in woocommerce payment options.

I am using a custom checkout layout, is this why its not displaying? is there an element I need to add to the layout?

EDIT: Nevermind. I disabled my custom checkout layout and used the normal checkout block and all seems OK.
