ecoParticipantHi there
I’m sorry but I am a bit upset
How can there be so many errors on our websites as a result of a theme update
Firstly I had to pay almost R1200 just to get assistance with errors not caused by me
Then I had to pay for a developer to assist me
Now my homepage is loading super slow and the advice I receive is try the woomart main theme and see if it helps
My website is built on the child theme how do I just switch over
I have already lost many sales and much revenue as my add to cart button was not adding to cart ( which I have still not resolved as I need to get a developer to assist with this and they are nervous to add code given when no one has even looked at the error on my site but what choice do I have
Is this error going to be permanent I see quite a few other people with the same issue on the forum
And how can, there suddenly just be an issue I have been using the theme almost 10 years, and now this big problem?
I’m not happy I would appreciate it if someone can actually help me resolve these issues as they are directly caused by the theme xtemos created and I am honestly tired of trying to sort this out with very vague minimal assistance

ecoParticipantThanks for the response, what should I do now can you advise the next steps?

Artem TemosKeymasterHello,
To check and find the root of the problem you need to perform the following tests:
1. Switch to the default WordPress theme and check the home page loading time.
2. If it works fast with default theme, check how it works without the child theme on your website.
3. Also, check the loading time when all non-related plugins are turned off.
Kind Regards

ecoParticipantOK but won’t switching to the main theme mess my website up?
I am not a developer I am nervous to try thisMarch 6, 2023 at 3:34 pm #448689
Artem TemosKeymasterDo you mean when switching between parent-child themes? If you didn’t add any custom code to the child theme your website will not be messed up when you switch between themes.

ecoParticipantI do have custom code on the child theme yes
Luckily I did not follow the steps
Now what ?March 6, 2023 at 5:16 pm #448751
Artem TemosKeymasterBy default, the child theme is empty and it is a place for additional code customization. But you add your custom code at your own risk and our support doesn’t cover fixing issues caused by the custom code.
If the problem is caused by the child theme then you need to fix or remove the code.March 6, 2023 at 5:17 pm #448753
Artem TemosKeymasterAlso, the code you added to the child theme that was provided by our support staff doesn’t affect this. So if it is the only code you added there then you can freely switch between themes.
