How to Update Footer

Hi there,
We hired a development company to build our site, they used Woodmart as the main theme for it but they stopped the development as they messed up a lot of stuff and we continued the development of it internally.

The company added their copyright in the footer before they stopped working and now we can not remove that, whenever we remove and click “Save Options” it loads the same EXACT old copyright content that was added by this company.

We believe they have done something to make the copyright unchangeable or write itself over whenever it gets changed to something new… Please, can you help us in this matter?

They could change the theme code. Please provide me site admin access I will check the settings, if we cannot find the amendment I will provide detailed instruction on how to reinstall the theme from scratch.

We have checked and see that they have customized the theme several times.

You would better to reinstall the theme from the stretch.

Make the full backup of your site.

Export the theme settings in Theme Settings > Export / Import.

Then delete the theme in FTP, and upload the theme from the folder on the Theme, install.

If you need help, you can make the full backup of your site and send me FTP. I will reinstall

But quick question before, we have some customizations on the theme site (not 100% about it) will that go away as well? How can we save them?

First of all, please make the full backup of your site.

Next, take all the customization code from the parent theme and move to the fundtions.php of the child theme.

Then provide FTP I will reinstall the theme, however, I cannot guarantee all the settings would be the same, perhaps you will have to restore something. All the content would be saved.

You just deleted the copyright but not fixing the main problem which is ‘whatever we make changes in the theme settings it rewrite the old content’

for example: in the footer, whenever we make changes and click on save it goes back to the old content as you can see in the video
