Insert a background in the categories' menu

How can I insert a background image into each category in the menu (besides the hovering option of the megamenu). Please take a look to the screenshot attached bellow.

It is not possible to set the image in each menu item of the category menu. I mean this area http://prntscr.com/khd7hi
You can set different backgrounds on mega menu items only.
