Issue with WooCommerce Email Preview after Updating to 9.8.1

Hi,

After updating WooCommerce to version 9.8.1, I encountered an error when trying to preview certain email templates from the admin panel. Instead of displaying the email, it shows the following error:

There was an error rendering an email preview.

I’m using the Query Monitor plugin to debug, and here’s the call stack shown when the error occurs:

The error occurs specifically on email templates that include order information—such as the “New order” email. Other email previews (e.g., basic notifications) seem to work fine.

Just to clarify: in the WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features section, I have “Email improvements” disabled (i.e., I’m not using the modern email design for transactional emails).

Could you please confirm whether this issue could be caused by the theme or a template override, and if there’s a known fix or compatibility patch for WooCommerce 9.8.1?

Could you please check how it works with some default WordPress themes like TwentyTwenty or WooCommerce Storefront to understand it is our theme issue or not?
