abhinav1506Participanthi,
Linked Variations under products in the wp admin not working. Meaning its supposed to assign the attribute to the the SIMPLE products too i guess but its not working,1) when ive assigned the attributes to SIMPLE products they don’t show on these individual product edit windows. So im guessing this virtually links the simple products by the attributes and does not actually bulk assign the attributes to the products – the link is virtual.
2) even after the linking the attributes dont show on the shop page and neither the product page. For the attribute swatches to show on the product archives and single product page i actually have to create a variation and physically add the attributes inside each product and then ofcourse create those new variations like Size: M/S/XL and Color: beige, black, white.
so lets say each of these sizes has all colors so to make this happen for 100 products is a very time consuming process.
questions? Whats the purpose of linking product variations with attributes? as the name suggests variations so im guessing first i have to convert these simple products to variations and then reassign linked variations for it work , is it so? The main purpose of linking variations to attributes is unknown ? Do i actually have to create manual variations when all sizes have same color sets or can i use this linked variations to attributes feature in some way to speed up my work?

abhinav1506Participantso as i guessed i think first i must convert to variable product because linked variations has started showing on single product pages ( Please let me know if it will show on shop page and product archives aswell at this stage now?) and whilst making the simple product to a variable product i made sure to check ‘ attribute visible on the product page’ when assigning attribute but i think no need to enable the checkbox which says ‘attribute used for variations’ . Although linked variations works now but the product is constantly showing out of stock even after updating it to be in stock. the product variation stock status doesn’t update. this maybe because now its a variation instead of simple product? what happened ? do i also have to click used for variations in this case? what use could linking variations be if this is the case?

abhinav1506Participantim kinda lost here because everything is showing OUT OF STOCK whereas clearly its not . The reason is unknown but i havent created any variations till now as i used the linked variation feature . Meaning i didnt convert the variation to actual child variations but instead used the variations to show on product page and to be used as variations withou actually creating variations. Maybe i think the end game is that this works only with actually created child variations and would not work if there are no variations created for the parent variable product. correct?

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
The “Linked variations” lets you create separate simple products and group them into one bundle by a common attribute, rather than creating a variable product with different variations.
Check this Manual:

abhinav1506Participantyou said “The “Linked variations” lets you create separate simple products and group them into one bundle by a common attribute, rather than creating a variable product with different variations.’
Q1)So group them only by a single common attribute or attribute term ?
Q2) also the grouping happens by only one common attribute or only one of its common term or we can group it by multiple common attributes or its terms ?TIA

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Linked Variations is a feature of the WoodMart Theme where you can link different Simple Products through a Single Attribute i.e. you can create separate simple products and group them into one bundle by a common attribute.
You need to created bundles via Dashboard -> Products -> Linked variations: https://take.ms/Rn1vT
Then define that attribute for both products: https://take.ms/POKj5 , https://take.ms/AZtf7. So as a result it will work.
