New site with woodmart is slower than old one takes 8 seconds to load.

I bought your woodmart theme and was impressed at what speed it was meant to go at. I copied one demo and my site is now slower than the old on
I have got rid of 12 plug-ins (as they are now on your theme)
I have upgraded my host to a dedicated server
I have optimised all images.

On GT Matrix speed checker my site is a F

Looking further into that, it seems the fonts are a problem. I did not change the fonts I used your demo defaults. See Screen shot

On google speed check it is 19. The site was in the mid 60s before I switched to your theme.

On speed checks we are still taking about 8 seconds to load.

I do not think your theme is fast at all – and in fact is slower than my old theme which had about 12 extra plug-ins

And most worryingly I have had customers phone me to say they can’t get the page to load at all. This has never happened before – it would always load. Pages are glitching and not loading.

What do you suggest I do now?

My hosting company Siteground (which you recommend) have stated that there is a FATAL ERROR with the theme!!

I have asked a developer about this and they have quoted £1500 plus VAT to look at all the theme problems and to get our speed up

This is quite incredible. I got this theme as I believed it was fast.

But the problem is not in the theme itself. We have already checked your website performance and gave you all the instructions about how to optimize your website. It is not something caused by our theme. You can install any theme on your website and the result will be the same.
And if you think that all of these problems are caused by WoodMart then we can propose you return your money back.

the mega menu needs to configured with AJAX menu dropdown. Why on earth is this not just automatic? There is NOTHING anywhere to say this is the problem in the speed tests – they concentrate on first paint.

I have now gone to 80 in the speed test by doing that one thing. Still low in the mobile setting.

the pictures are still there – they were re-optimised and then all the links broke (I got anotehre email about that from WordPress and am working my way through this fixing them all)

The error came from an email from Word press – stating that there is a problem with the theme – as per the note on 29/9/21 above

Hi, I have re-loaded the optimiser I used before I used your theme. Your optimisations on the dashboard, I assumed would be taking care of things, but they are not good.
Since I re-activated this, I have jumped back up the google speed check.

As there is nothing wrong with any of my plugins, I am not going to disable them – all the errors point to the theme.

I have DELETED all your demo pics/pages/templates etc yet it is still bringing this up – and is taking 2 seconds to realise this phantom pic is not there. I searched your help topic for this and there are many other customers who had this problem WITH THIS EXACT SAME DEMO PICTURE going back to 2019 – I can’t believe that you have not fixed this yet.

The photo has been deleted on my ststem, (and before you ask yes, of course, cache has been cleared) and like your other customers, it is still coming up when a speed test is done. This is the only thing that remains from the demo, so obviously there is a problem with this picture.

Yes, we have already told you about this image. You have removed it from the server and it causes this loading problem. You need to remove it from your content either. It is set as a background for some of your home page sections. Go through all the sections on your home page and remove all the background images.

IT IS NOT ON MY MEDIA – none of the demo images or pages or any other info from the demo is there.

I do not have it set as a background image. It is a problem from the theme.
I do not have any pic set as a background on any section of my web – see screen shot (they are all blank, but I thought just one pic would do)

However, as already stated, it is still there and is from your theme and is slowing the site down.

As this has been highlighted by other customers, I would like this to be investigated urgently.
