Order Draft

Hello, I put my site live today and i noticed that when a “guest” goes to checkout and abandons the cart it creates a “draft” of the abandoned cart in the “draft” area of the woocommerce orders. Why is it doing that? I have the entire “abandoned cart” turned off in the theme settings so I’m not sure why. My site looks really nice btw. 🙂

Could you please check how it works with some default WordPress themes like TwentyTwenty or WooCommerce Storefront to understand if it is our theme issue or not?

I added a screenshot.
When the cart is abandoned, it creates a “draft” of the order in the backend. And no, it was not doing this on my old theme or with the wordpress themes.

Our theme’s Abandoned Cart feature does not create WooCommerce order drafts. Those drafts are not generated by WoodMart.

WoodMart only saves abandoned carts inside:

Products > Abandoned Carts, and they appear with the status “Open” when “Enable cart recovery” is turned ON.

If you are seeing Order Drafts in WooCommerce > Orders, then this is coming from another plugin.

Please deactivate all the 3rd party plugins and activate only theme-required plugins on the site, and then check the issue. I am sure your issue will be solved. Then activate the 3rd party plugins one by one and check which plugin is creating the issue for you.

I had all plugins disabled and it still occurred.

The abandoned cart feature is also disabled and there are no 3rd party abandoned cart plugins active either.

I checked your checkout setup and noticed you’re using the WooCommerce Checkout Block instead of the classic checkout shortcode: [woocommerce_checkout].

This new block automatically creates a draft order every time a guest opens the checkout page.

This is normal behaviour from WooCommerce Blocks — it stores the checkout session as a draft so the data isn’t lost if the user continues later.

It’s not controlled by the theme and not related to the abandoned-cart feature you disabled.

So the draft orders you’re seeing are created by WooCommerce itself, not Woodmart.

I used a fresh install of WordPress/WooCommerce with a new hosting company. I did not realize that they had made this change.
