kharlamov.manParticipantHello. I’m having an issue with how product photos are displayed on the shop page after installing the WoodMart theme.
The photos are loading in low resolution.
I can’t change the photo aspect ratio; I need it to be 2:3.
September 14, 2026 at 11:10 am #728910Hello,
Basically, the product images are controlled by WooCommerce and the WoodMart theme doesn’t influence this or not option in theme settings for optimizing images. The size of the thumbnail you set should be larger than the size of the product thumbnail displayed on the shop page. If the thumbnail size is smaller than what the default size expects, it may appear blurry or not display correctly.
You can find the sizes used on the demo here:

kharlamov.manParticipantHello,
I have an issue with product images in the WoodMart product archive/grid.
All my product images use a 2:3 aspect ratio. For example, one of the original images is 732×1100 px. This ratio is used throughout my entire product photo library, and I do not plan to change it.
My WooCommerce image settings are:
– Main image width: 732 px
– Thumbnail width: 600 px
– Thumbnail crop: Custom 2:3However, WoodMart outputs another image size in the product grid, for example:
attachment-440x504 size-440x504This does not match 2:3 and the image initially looks blurry / lower quality.
Also, after I click on a color swatch, the product image is replaced and suddenly becomes much sharper and higher quality.
To rule out migration or old thumbnail issues, I tested this on a completely fresh WordPress installation:
– empty WordPress
– WooCommerce + WoodMart
– brand-new manually created product
– newly uploaded 2:3 imageThe same problem still occurs.
Could you please clarify:
1. Why is WoodMart using
440x504instead of the WooCommerce 2:3 thumbnail?
2. Where is this image size defined?
3. How can I force the product archive to use a proper 2:3 thumbnail, for example around 600×900 px?
4. Why does image quality improve after selecting a color swatch?
5. Is there a separate image-size setting for the Product Loop / Product Thumbnail block?I can provide screenshots, page URL, HTML output, and a screen recording showing the issue.
Thank you.

kharlamov.manParticipantThe same images look better in other WoodMart product blocks, for example “You may also like”, so the problem seems to be related specifically to the Product Loop / Product Thumbnail output in the archive layout.
September 15, 2026 at 11:33 am #729071Hello,
I have checked your Product Archive custom layout and found that the Image Resolution for the Product Thumbnail/Product Loop is currently set to 440×504. This is why WoodMart is generating and displaying the 440×504 image in the product grid.
Since your original product images use a 2:3 aspect ratio, please edit your Product Archive layout and change the Image Resolution setting from the custom 440×504 size to WooCommerce Thumbnail.
After changing this, clear your website/cache before checking the product archive again.
The WooCommerce Thumbnail option will use the thumbnail size configured in your WooCommerce settings instead of the custom 440×504 size.

kharlamov.manParticipantThank you for your previous reply. Your recommendation helped me partially solve the issue.
I changed the Product Archive image resolution from the custom size to WooCommerce Thumbnail, and for the existing WoodMart archive layout the product images are now displayed correctly with the proper 2:3 aspect ratio.
However, I have another issue now.
I created new product categories using the standard WooCommerce interface under Products → Categories. For example:
– Women
– Hats as a child category
– Men
When I assign products to these newly created WooCommerce categories and open their archive pages, the product images are again displayed with the wrong proportions / resolution.
So at the moment the correct image output works only where I manually configure the WoodMart archive layout, but not automatically for newly created standard WooCommerce categories.
My goal is to avoid creating and configuring a separate WoodMart layout for every category and subcategory.
I will have many product categories and subcategories, so I would like to understand how to make all standard WooCommerce category archive pages automatically use:
– the same Product Archive layout;
– WooCommerce Thumbnail;
– the 2:3 image ratio configured in WooCommerce.
Is it possible to configure this globally using standard WordPress/WooCommerce behavior, so that any new category or subcategory I create automatically inherits the same product image settings and layout?
In other words, I would like to use WooCommerce categories normally, without manually creating a separate WoodMart archive layout for each category.
Please advise what is the correct configuration for this in WoodMart.
Thank you.Attachments:

I have checked your website and the current configuration.
You are using custom Product Archive layouts, and some layouts are assigned specifically to certain product categories such as Men, Women, Kids, etc. When a category has its own custom Product Archive layout, it uses the settings of that specific layout instead of the global/default archive layout.
Therefore, when you create a new category and it is assigned to a separate custom archive layout, you need to configure the Image Resolution within that layout as well.
To avoid creating a separate layout for every category, you can use a single Product Archive layout and assign it to all product archives/categories where you want the same design and settings. In that layout, set the Product Thumbnail Image Resolution to WooCommerce Thumbnail.
Best Regards
