Placeholder text in search form

Is there any way to change the placeholder text in the search form? Instead of having placeholder text that says “Search for Products” or “Search for Posts” we’d just like to have the simple word “Search”.

Is there no other way? Our site already has WAYYYYYYY too many plugins and we’d really rather not add another one. We don’t need a language translator for our site. Is there no file we can edit and save in the child theme to change this text?

If you don’t want to use the loco translate plugin then you can edit the .PO file using Poedit software and upload back to the site.
