Please deactivate all the 3rd party plugins and activate only theme-required plugins on the site and then check the issue. I am sure your issue will be solved. Then Activate the 3rd party plugins one by one and check which plugin is creating the issue for you.
Otherwise, if the issue still exists then keep the 3rd party plugins deactivated and share the WP admin login details of your site so I will check and give you a possible solution.

1/ When we switch to another theme like storefront, the issue disappears, i.e. when there is no variation image then the main image shows up by default.
2/ If we use Woodmart and we manually enter variation images, they show up correctly. The issue is the main image does not show up by default with Woodmart when there is no variation image specified. (we didn’t have this issue formerly).
Is there a setting we should activate within your theme ? Or is this a bug related to wp 6.7 ?
Please help us solve this.NB – we tried to deactivate plugins but there is no positive result so far.

I have updated the theme plugins and then site suddenly went to maintenance mode. Please update the theme plugins then activate the parent theme and check back the issue.
