Product variables only for show

Hi Theme!

I have a problem with my site regarding swatches. Ive had to make “workarounds” and im trying to figure out if I need custom modifications to the theme to get it to work as I want.

Im using swatches to display numbers of my disc golf discs in the product archive page / shop page. They are used only for visuals, and I wouldnt need to have swatches used, if there would be a option to use a second image that would be shown in the shop /product archive section. (image 1) So numbers 11 4 0 3 are not. variables. They are always same for this disc. It could be picture

All products are variable products and the problem is that I actually need to make it so that some of the variables are actual variables for products (like weight color etc) but not the ones that are shown for the customer for information.

Is it possible to somehow display the numbers as a picture but not a variable either through custom work or a plugin or anything ?

Sorry, but your answer is a bit unclear to me. You want to replace numbers with image swatches? Please confirm me back, this will allow me to thoroughly investigate and address your concerns in a more efficient.

Yes sorry for the “unclear” description since its hard to explain:

– The main issue what I had with the theme is to somehow have a secondary image / images to the product archive page. If I would only have pictures of Discs, it wouldnt work, since the customer needs the numbers shown aswell.

-I was told that this could be done with swatches, since the swatch displays secondary images on the page.

-I did this and the results were good = nice images in shop and archive pages and everyones happy, UNTIL:

-I actually need to use variable products instead of simple products, since now the images are variables and need to be clicked for the customer to make a purchase, which is silly since nobody understands to click on numbers.

My question: Is it possible to just somehow add secondary images to the shop without variable swatches? And use swatches for what they were intended to be used for?

OR: is it possible to somehow make some of the attributes “dead” attributes, that are not selectable or just for showing. So if I would have color weight and the blue numbers, then only the chosen attributes (variables) would be selectable by the customer. Hope you understand.

Unfortunately, additional customization is outside the scope of our basic support. You need to find a third party plugin to achieve more functionality that best suits you.
