Product Variation Gallery Images Export/Import Problem

Hello, I have quite a few products that have a lot of variations that need images associated with them. It would be way to time consuming to do this one by one, so I’ve been trying to do it by exporting the data, filling in items where needed, then reimporting.

I have the “additional variations images” set to “on”. I will go into a product and add all the variation images for each different color, hoping that when I export that I can copy the info in those columns to the other sizes of the same color so those variation images appear on those. I’ve tried exporting with the “data storage method” set to “variations products meta” and also the “parent product meta”. When I export with the parent product meta, I can see a long string of characters in the “woodmart_variation_gallery_data” field only on the parent product. When I switch to “variations products meta” and export, there is nothing at all in any of those fields.

I’ve tried exporting with WP All Export and the default WordPress export function. I have also tried using admin columns pro to get to this data to change it, but it’s always empty even if I have images on the variations. Am I doing something incorrectly or is there another way to get this to work so I can easily associate the variation images without doing it manually (which unfortunately isn’t an option).

Thank you so much for contacting our support center.

You need to use “Variations product meta” storage method if you are going to use these data for export/import. So you need to switch the method first and then fill all variations with images. Only after these steps, you will be able to export/import them.

Thank you for the reply. So if I am understanding correctly, the only way to export the info is to have each variation have all the images already associated with them? There is no way to add images to a couple of the variations, export, fill in the missing image info then import?

I’m trying to find a way to save time doing this. I tested one product yesterday and doing it manually variation by variation took over an hour. If I could do one or two, export, copy of the info and import it would take less than 10 minutes.

Hi again, to follow up with some more info on this. I have “Variations product meta” storage method setup and saved on a cloned development site. I made a brand new test variable product with 7 variations. I added skus, pricing and variation image to each variation. I then added a gallery image to the first variation and saved. I exported to test and the “woodmart_variation_gallery_data” field for all lines is blank. I then went back to the test product and added one image to the variation gallery for each variation. I saved, confirmed all variations had a main image and one gallery image. Product also has a featured image and one main gallery image associated with it as well. Once I export again, the woodmart_variation_gallery_data fields are all still blank. I can’t seem to get that info to export even if all the fields are filled in properly.
