Product Variation Image Not Displaying When Selecting Product Attributes

I have added a specific product image for each product variation in addition to adding all images to the ‘product gallery’.
When the user selects the products attributes at the front-end of the single product page, the product image does not change to display the image which was linked to that particular variation.
Any idea why that is happening?
