Question About Performance with Large Product Catalog

I’m about to invest in API integration between WordPress + your theme and my warehouse software program, because I’m very satisfied with your theme.
However, I have one concern, and that’s why I’m writing — to hear your honest opinion and learn from your experience.
I’m worried whether the website will run optimally if I upload around 5,000 products, and eventually reach around 20,000.
I’m concerned that it might start to freeze, lag, or become very slow to work with, especially from the client’s side when using its features.

What’s your experience on this?
