harshweParticipantHello Luke,
I have couple of quick queries. Can you please check and help me to understand and resolve.
1. I found that Roboto (Google font) is loading on my site. Although I have not enabled it on my own. Not sure, from where it is loading and on which page. I found that while testing through Google PS
https://bit.ly/3XjHUdz
https://i.paste.pics/2a48db832ad91d3c538d50b053e2fb77.pngUnder Custom Fonts (Theme settings > Typo>Adv), I am using only 2 fonts Glaciall, Montserrat
Under Typo > Basic also, just one Standard font – Palatino. Can you please check from where it is coming and how can we change or update to any of the Custom font.
On which page or multiple pages, this Roboto font is loading.
How do I block this to load and not to show in Google PS too. And load fonts that we define in Woodmart Theme settings only either in Basic (as Standard fonts) or in Adv as Custom fonts.2. On every product page, there is a Shipping tab, where I am using some content created through HTML block.
Here, currently I have added few icons in the Accordion.
a) Can you please confirm are these loading as Font Awesome icons. Or else, are these loading from some other External resources.
b). Will using these icons, takes extra time to load the page and affect the overall page score. Even if very slight.
c). Can we upload icons locally. Like, an image in svg or webp format, instead of font awesome icons or icons from other external library.PS: Can you please check and resolve this one. I asked this almost 4 days ago and is still pending. Waiting to hear back from your side –

harshweParticipantHello,
In addition to above message,
1). Regarding same point 1 above –
Also, these below settings are exactly same since beginning, (when we initially set up the theme settings long back)
https://i.paste.pics/22a9d1a73690946e5e8af78ab049537f.pngSimilarly, “Swap” enabled and set in Elementor also. But I could not find from where Roboto font is loading, how to prevent it. And how to prevent the Google font apis script to load, as a result.
And we have not changed them since beginning.
Since, during that initial time and until few days back, it was not throwing this message for loading of Roboto Font. Due to which it is causing to load the Google font apis script too, affecting the results as per Google Page speed report.Regards

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Sorry for the delay.
In order to prevent loading the fonts from the Google API, you shouldn’t use only custom fonts in Theme Settings -> Typography. In your case, you have the font from Google API in the Header font area.
https://monosnap.com/file/rpEFV2lP8PcDqFkQ2hDoIKvzs05cyC
Also, in the Custom font area, you need to add for the font’s name some prefix (e.g -local).
https://gyazo.com/7a3962bea54c1ef08944aaf70a9b2b5c
The names should not be the same as API Google fonts have therefore the fonts from API will not be uploaded.
2.
a) These icons from Font Awesome.
b) It shouldn’t. In any case, you can check the product page with the activated “Shipping” tab and without.
c) Here is a screenshot with more detail on how to upload your own SVG image:

Feel free to reach out so we can discuss possible options moving forward.
Kind Regards

harshweParticipantHello Luke,
1. I check the Palatino font set for Header font and found it is under Standard Font and not under the Google font. As shown below-
https://i.paste.pics/9a3c99070310a05228a3219437081fa2.png
I think this should not call Google Font API as it is not as and under the Google font section, if we are loading from Standard Font option. May be I did not get the point.
Can you please clarify on this bit more. Also, as per my previous screenshot, I asked about “Roboto” font, that is loading.
https://i.paste.pics/2a48db832ad91d3c538d50b053e2fb77.png
As shown in Google font API while testing page with Google Page Speed. I want to know from where this Roboto font is loading.
And how can I prevent it from loading itself and Google font API as well. And change this to locally stored font, so as to load it from the server.1.b). Also, as I informed, Palatino (and other fonts) in theme settings > Typo, were as it is since beginning. And there was No such warning or message for loading of Google font API while tested with Google Page Speed earlier. This has happened recently. So it could be due to Roboto font or some other. Can you please check further and identify and help to resolve this.
c) You suggested – “…you need to add for the font’s name some prefix (e.g -local).”
Do you mean to say suffix here, and not the prefix.
And can we simply add the term local in theme settings > typography>Custom fonts. Or do we need to rename the font file something like Monsterrat-local2. a b) Thank you so much for clarifying on both points.
b) Thanks for helpful screenshot. Will try that way.Regards

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Sorry for the delay!
The “Roboto” font comes from the Global settings of the Elementor, more detail is in the below video.
https://monosnap.com/file/Wd26v2Cg5svueJDajHgnYGY789RLGB
c) In general for the custom fonts better to add a suffix or prefix only to the “Font name” area like in the below screenshot:
https://gyazo.com/7a3962bea54c1ef08944aaf70a9b2b5c
If I missed something, please let me know.
Kind Regards

harshweParticipantHello Luke,
1. By the time I received your response , I was Googling and going through several posts and help pages and found this below one. According to it, I already had this disabled – Elementor > Settings > General > Disable Default Fonts. And I did Regenerated CSS thereafter also, but that did not helped either.
https://github.com/elementor/elementor/issues/4075Then I came across this response which matches with yours Solution, here-
https://bit.ly/3QKOLKNAnd after setting to Default (tested on staging), it Works and then do Not shows warning while testing on Google Page Speed.
Your solution really helped me a lot. This was really scratching my Mind, till then.Thank you so much for coming straight away with the solution. Rather than asking to disable or enable plugins and Cache and other things, just like I can see other support keymasters used to ask most of the times.
PS: And it is now clear that this was the reason why we were not having this warning earlier. Because we have recently shifted to Elementor and earlier we were using WPBakery, which does not have that Global Font option (and with Roboto set as default)
1.c) I realized that after removing the Roboto font (from Global) and setting it to Default as in above step, If found that it then do not requires to Add Suffix or Prefix to the same Name fonts in Theme Settings.
However, I will keep a Note of this Tip and your Valuable suggestion. This can come Handy anytime.Request: Please, if you could take a look on my Tickets bit early, and try to answer them as soon as you can. Would highly appreciate that – https://bit.ly/3QQrsPN
