tuckedawayukParticipantHi,
The search bar in main header on desktop and bottom head on mobile does not function correctly with my website. It will show some searches correctly but will not show other tags or categories etc
An example is that searching for ‘watch’ will show the relevant product in the shop but searching for ‘car’ (product has car tag) does not show. To confirm, all relevant tags have been added to products.
Also, it will sometimes show a product on single product page but i dont want my users to view any single product pages. My website is currently set so only shop and archives are visible.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Many thanks
Rob

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
The thing is that we are using the default search functionality from WordPress so please check how it works on the default WordPress theme just to check whether the issue is from our theme of not.
I await your response.
Kind Regards

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
It means that it is not our issue because it has the same work on the default theme.
I suggest you try to use the “Relevanssi for AJAX search” via Theme Settings -> Shop.
Don’t forget to install the appropriate plugin : https://wordpress.org/plugins/relevanssi/

tuckedawayukParticipantHi,
Its essential that the search bar works on my site! Ive tried the Relevannsi plugin and that doesn’t work either! Ive just paid for extended support! Please could you have a look at what the problem might be?Many thanks

b.brennerParticipantHello, I have the same problem. I find it embarrassing to sell a theme specifically for shops and simply offer the standard WordPress search. ALL visitors to websites with the Woodmart theme will probably want to search for PRODUCTS. Accordingly, the product tags, product descriptions, product categories, etc. must be included in the search. A shop where you cannot find what you are looking for is worth nothing.

tuckedawayukParticipantHi,
Can you confirm that you are looking at my site? A lot of information has disappeared from my products so checking that this is maybe you testing my site to get the search bar working?
Thanks
Rob

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
You wrote previously that this problem with other themes as well so this issue is not caused by WoodMart.
I sincerely appreciate your understanding in this matter. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any further questions.
Also, I didn’t do any changes on your website.

tuckedawayukParticipantSo to clarify, the Woodmart theme is not compatible with the WordPress search bar?
August 4, 2022 at 10:26 am #395455
Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Our theme is fully compatible with the default WordPress search functionality.
For now, your header isn’t working at all due to custom code from the
functions.php
file in your child theme.https://gyazo.com/a52d308baf1780a3e8309fb541f552d3
You can be sure of that by activating the parent theme and checking the header.
Kind Regards

tuckedawayukParticipantHi,
Ok thank you I really appreciate that you have looked into it. I switched to the parent theme and Im still having the same issue though. Some searches work, for example typing ‘win’ will work, but I have products with the tag ‘car’ and ‘cars’ fopr example and when typing this into the search bar it doesnt work. This is the same whether ive activated child or parent theme.
Any further help with this will be really appreciated please,
Many thanks
Rob

tuckedawayukParticipantI forgot to say that I temporarily removed all code in functions.php in my child theme and this did not make any difference to the function of the search bar.

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
We are using the default WordPress functionality that doesn’t search by tags, it’s not our issue because the same functionality have the default themes. In this case, you need to use a plugin for the search that adds such an opportunity.
In the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
Kind Regards
