Search function not working as expected

Hi Woodmart support

I’m a bit confused about the functionality of the search tool on my site. It seems to work perfectly fine as long as i only type a search query into the field.

Problems start when i then hit “enter”. I’m taken to the shop page then but the grid that is shown there does not contain the useful search results that have been displayed before.

I’ve added two Screenshots to clarify. Do i need to change something in the configuration of my Shop page?

Those are different product-single pages that need to be shown depending on product category, they are needed and i don’t want to remove the conditions.
Why do you think this would be related to the problem? the search results are not displayed with this template.

I checked the conditions of these layouts and found some included Search result page, I also disabled all for testing then search results page worked again.

So, I kindly recommend you to disable one by one to find out the root cause.

OK i See there were conditions set on the Shop page, didn’t have that one in mind but then it makes sense and it is indeed related.

So when i want the “shop”-page (which was designed in elementor) to be the one that displays my search results. How would i achieve that? the Product Grid placed on it seems to completly ignore the search query.

The standard appearance of the shop results when i remove those conditions is not good, i need to customize it.

1. You cannot edit the search page directly with any page builders. You can go to Dashboard > Theme Settings > General > Search > there you can find options related to Search.

2. Or you can create Custom Search page layout with condition, but not combine it with other conditions, then you can customize it alone.

1. If i remove any conditions and leave the default search it looks like the screenshot. While it technically works then it does not look good and the theme options you mentioned do not allow me to edit any of the problem points (to less margin, no Title, prices need to be removed, etc..).

2. So if i make a separate search page layout and put it to use via the “include search page” condition how would i customize it then? Am i then allowed to use elementor? and if yes what element (or hook or shortcode or whatever) must i choose to display the search results?

Good advice! with the Archive Products-Element i was now able to build the desired search results Page.
