Search header menu redirect on home page.

We are experiencing an issue with the search bar in the header of our WordPress theme. When a search query is submitted, it redirects to the homepage instead of displaying the search results.

Could you please advise on how we can fix this issue?

To better assist you, could you kindly test the functionality with default WordPress themes such as TwentyTwenty or WooCommerce Storefront? This will help us determine whether the issue stems from our theme or elsewhere.

I conducted a test on the website http://carmelomarior7.sg-host.com/ (test environment for our company’s management system). Using the theme – YITH Proteo (child), the search leads to the page “Results for your search: test” instead of displaying the correct search results.

Please test with WooCommerce Storefront theme instead. It is a basic theme for WooCommerce.

I was able to test on a site we manage with Woodmart. Once the search is entered and submitted, we see this path: https://bimbomaniasrl.it/?s=test&post_type=product, and the shop is filtered for that specific word. We would like to achieve this. The same applies to http://carmelomarior7.sg-host.com/?s=test&post_type=product, with the Storefront theme – see the attached screenshot.

Sorry, but we are confused now. Could you please clarify which website has a problem and send us two screenshots: one of WoodMart and one of Storefront so we can see the difference? Take both screenshots on the same website.

Apologies if I wasn’t clear! Let me explain better: The search issue is related to the site https://sweethomestoreonline.com/. I conducted two tests. The first was with this site, using the STOREFRONT theme as requested: http://carmelomarior7.sg-host.com/ (screenshot attached). Additionally, I ran another test on a site with the Woodmart theme (https://bimbomaniasrl.it/), performing a search, and in both cases, the result was a page with the shop filtered by the word “TEST”. Was I able to explain myself better?

If you have a problem with the sweethomestoreonline website, then you need to test with the Storefront theme on that website, too. We need to understand if it is caused by our theme or not.

I performed the test on the site in question, https://sweethomestoreonline.com/, by installing the Storefront theme. The search functionality works correctly, displaying the shop filtered with the searched term. As we can see, your website is working correctly at the moment. Could you please temporarily disable all plugins that are not related to our theme temporarily and send us your FTP access?

Hello,

You can fix it by applying patch # 627192. To do this, go to Dashboard -> WoodMart -> Patcher, find the corresponding patch and click on the “Apply” button. Let us know if it works for you.

Thanks to patch 627192, we have gained access to the shop page. However, this page currently shows no results. Even if you search for the exact product title that appears in the AJAX search and press enter, the shop does not filter. What should I do now?

We have followed your instructions and switched the theme to Storefront to test the patch. However, as shown in the attached screenshots, no results are displayed for both the Storefront theme and the Woodmart (Child theme).

Could you please advise on the next steps we should take to resolve this issue?

It means that this issue is not related to the WoodMart theme. Most likely, something is wrong with WooCommerce configuration, or your products are excluded from search. Unfortunately, we can’t say exactly how to fix this.
