Searching products by SKU (numbers)

I have “Search by product SKU” enabled in the theme settings and it seems as if I am able to search by SKU when the SKU contains letters, but when I search just numbers I get no results.

Please deactivate all the plugins not related to the theme and switch the parent theme, check the issue, if the problem remains, leave the plugins not activated and provide the site admin access to the private area

As an update for anyone else encountering this issue. This happened after we did a bulk import of products using an import plugin. For some reason the plugin did not adhere to proper execution of wordpress/woocommerce business rules.
When making a slight change to the product and saving it, the search functionality worked as expected. I’m guessing with the import not all data was properly populated in wordpress/woocommerce.
