Select variation on click, not hover

As it stands now, the customer can select a product variation by hovering their mouse over a color swatch. If the number of swatches is large, this can easily lead to accidental selection of the wrong variation, when they move their mouse away from the desired swatch. Can I set it up to select variations on click instead of on hover, like it’s done on mobiles?

The swatches are only selected when clicked on them not by hovering the mouse over them this is the default behavior.
If you are trying to ask anything else then please provide some relevant screenshots with the URL of the product to check it myself and help you out accordingly.
