Set woodmart button link to dowload the file

I have several buttons I need to include which will download a file. Just adding the button and adding the link to the file works for files the browser cannot open (zip files, psd files etc), but when its a jpeg or pdf it opens the file in the browser. I have tried my usual method of but the button element automatically removes what I entered and replaces it with https://.

I realise that as a workaround I can create a button manually and style it like the woodmart button element but I thought I would ask here first if I can do it natively.
