DavidGeranParticipantHi, after updating various plug-ins and removing inactive ones the shopping cart button on the top right hand side of my shop opens up the “Shopping Basket” panel but its blank, none of the products or action buttons are showing.
This is the same on a laptop & mobile. Any assistance appreciated!

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Could you please check how it works with some default WordPress themes like TwentyTwenty or WooCommerce Storefront to understand is it our theme issue or not?
Kind Regards

DavidGeranParticipantHi,
I’ve tried a couple of other themes and none of them have the same type of functionality, i.e. the storefront basket icon takes you through to the actual shopping cart page rather than pops out a modal basket from the right hand side.
Is there a specific theme I could try with the same functionality?

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
In this case, would be easier firstly deactivate all plugins except these ones:
WPBakery Page Builder or Elementor
Woodmart Core
WooCommerceIf the problem has gone, activate the plugins one by one, checking the issue to detect which one causes the problem.
Let me know the result.
Kind Regards

DavidGeranParticipantOK so the problem is still there.
However, if I add a product to the shopping basket the slideout basket panel is populated, and stays visible for as long as I stay on that page (inc. clicking the basket icon).
As soon as I leave that page, if I click on the basket icon again then the blank panel shows.
Fwiw I suspect this was the case before I deactivated a load of plug-ins.

DavidGeranParticipantIt might be better if that shopping basket icon “click” event takes the shopper to the actual shopping basket page.
If you let me know how to do that, that’ll be a good enough workaround.

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Please provide access to the admin dashboard and confirm the permission for plugins deactivation, and switching to the parent theme. As soon as we complete the testing we will enable all back.
After testing, I will let you know the results of the investigation.
Kind Regards

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
I have checked that issue on the default theme and there is the same issue with the side cart:
Here is a video on the default theme from your side: https://take.ms/O7iYy
Here is the same theme from my side: https://take.ms/DfATr
As you can see, the same issue is on the default theme so I suggest you contact with WooCommerce support team for further solutions.
Kind Regards

DavidGeranParticipantHi,
Thanks for the investigation so far. I’ve seen quite a few similar issues on forums some of which may relate to the Elementor plug-in after a WooCommerce recent update.
On your video (on your side) the mouse over event shows the basket, the on-click event takes the user to the actual shopping basket page.
As a workaround I’d be happy for the on-click event to do the same (instead of showing a blank panel).
Can you advise what change in the code I need to make to enable this? That should do until WooCommerce / Elementor issue is resolved.

DavidGeranParticipantIt looks like whatever is causing the shopping basket blank panel is also affecting the checkout page content refresh – this is just hanging preventing checkout to be completed. Also affecting the add to basket function of products on a category page on mobile.
With all of that it suggests something is preventing Ajax from firing correctly?
June 19, 2023 at 11:56 am #475829
Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
The thing is that the cart widget doesn’t work properly so the changes in the code will not help because something works wrong on the WooCommerce side.
I’d be happy to assist if you have any other questions or concerns.
Kind Regards

DavidGeranParticipantHi Luke,
Yeah I wiped the directory and went for a clean reinstall of Woo & all the mods. The ajax is working as intended, just take a bit of time to re-build the shop but I’d been meaning to do a redesign anyway… all good!
