TradeSurveyParticipantWe’ve got a site hosted with wpengine. If I add a product to the basket from a product page. It appears in the basket (in the flout from the right) but when I click “View Basket” the “Shopping Basket is Empty”.
However, if I add a product from a products category page (from the “Add to Basket” button that appears on hover) I can then “View Basket” from the fly out and my product is in the shopping basket.
We have another copy of this site in the wpengine hosting of our web designer. The “Add to Basket” function on the product page works fine on this instance of the site.
I’ve contacted wpengine support and explained that we have 2 copies of the same site in different wpengine accounts and that the “Add to Basket” buttons on the product page work on one but not the other. They added or fixed the “Cache Exclusions” on our site but this didn’t fix the problems.
Do you have any idea why our shopping cart gets emptied?

Artem TemosKeymasterHello,
Could you please check how it works with some default WordPress theme like twentysixteen to understand is it our theme issue or not?
Regards

TradeSurveyParticipantHello,
I tested with Twenty Sixteen.Successfully added 3 products to the basket.
Switched back to Woodmart and the 3 products were still in the basket.
Then I added another product from the product page. Shopping basket flout only showed the 1 newly added product. When I clicked “View Basket” only the 3 products added using the Twenty Sixteen theme were in the basket (new product wasn’t added in Woodmart theme).

Artem TemosKeymasterPlease, disable all external plugins, switch to the default theme and send us your admin access so we can test.

TradeSurveyParticipantHello,
I’m not sure which plugins you want me to disable. As far as I know all plugins were part of the Woodmart theme.
Do you want me to switch to the main Woodmart theme? We’re using a child version.
Many thanks

Artem TemosKeymasterYou said that you checked with default theme so please, switch to that theme so we can test. Here is a list of required plugins
WPBakery Page Builder
CMB2
Redux Framework
Woodmart Core

TradeSurveyParticipantI’ve disabled all plugins except the above and switched to the Twenty Sixteen Theme.
I’ve pasted your login below
The shopping basket works on this version of the site using Woodmart template at https://tradesurvey.wpengine.com
When I tried to log in to check the plugins on this install it required a database update.
But on https://tradesurvey3.wpengine.com (the site where the shopping basket is not working), the database has already been updated. Just wondering if this is connected to why the shopping basket works with the Woodmart template on one installation but not the other – the template customisation in the child theme is identical.

Artem TemosKeymasterTry to disable AJAX add to cart for the product page in Theme Settings -> Shop.
May 23, 2019 at 2:35 pm #125401
TradeSurveyParticipantDo you mean: AJAX shop >> Enable AJAX functionality for filters widgets on shop.
I’ve just tested on our staging site and the basket works fine http://tradesurvey3.staging.wpengine.com/product/leica-disto-d1/
do you think this is an issue with the hosting
May 23, 2019 at 2:53 pm #125402
Artem TemosKeymasterSorry, we mean AJAX add to cart in Theme Settings -> Product page.
Yes, there is some difference with the hosting and something is not working as expected.

TradeSurveyParticipantShopping basket on https://tradesurvey3.wpengine.com
I asked WPEngine Support to follow the steps in the attached pdf to see if they could replicate the issues I getting with products not staying in the cart.
At first my support agent was experiencing the same problems as me. He checked to see that the product page had been excluded from the cache and it was, but he deleted and then re-added it.
About 5 minutes later the shopping basket started to work properly. I’ve tested in Chrome, Firefox and Safari and all seems OK.
Hopefully now fixed but I am worried in case this happens again.

Artem TemosKeymasterGlad to hear that. Contact us if you will have any additional questions regarding our theme.
