Shorten short descriptions

I have a question about the short texts. How is it possible to reduce short descriptions in the frontend to a certain number of characters so that I get a uniform design? Or is there a plugin you would recommend?

Unfortunately, there is no such ability in our theme and we don’t know a plugin that may do this.
