Show variation images when one attribute is selected

Hello,
We are selling clothing that has two attributes, Color and Size. We have variation image gallery at each variation level. Currently, when on a single product page, it only shows the variation images when both the color and size attributes are selected. We’d like to show the variation images when the color is selected – the customer shouldn’t need to select size in order to see the images for that color. Could you tell me how can I change it? Thanks a lot.

This is the way a variable product works in Woocommerce and our theme does not influence that, unfortunately, you can test the same on the Storefront theme and see the same.
