sidebars dissapeared after update

Hi,
after updating to woordmart 5.0.1 (from v4+) the sidebar with widgets have dissapeared from categories view.
i also can’t seem to find them in the backend.
could you please help?

Hello,
The problem may occur when you switch between themes in Appearance -> Themes is that widgets may lose their positions. It is a WordPress behavior and we are not able to fix this in our theme scope. Now, you need to go to Appearance -> Widgets and move all widgets to appropriate positions.
As a workaround, you can backup your widgets configurations using this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-importer-exporter/

i haven’t switched themes as i’ve been using woodmart-child from the beginning.
problem is that there was a widget are which said something like “categories”
and in frontend when i was visiting a category the widgets showed up there.
after the update this widget area has disappeared

Widget area is still there but you need to add your widgets to that. Go to Appearance -> Widgets and move desired widgets to your sidebars.

All theme areas are present on the screenshot. What area do you mean?
before the update there was an area called “categories”
whatever widget i placed in there showed up in a category view in the frontend.
which area is this now?
We didn’t have such area in our theme. Please, send us a screenshot where do you want to display the widget and we will tell you how to do this.
You need to add your widgets to Shop page widget area to display them on the category page.
