ginhimParticipantHi there,
I have just pushed a client’s site live and an error message is coming up.
“The xxx.com.au page isn’t working
xxx.com.au is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 5O0”When we rang the host provider they said a plugin is causing the issue. Do you know what plugin in the theme is causing this to happen? I have noticed that the site is also very slow.

Artem TemosKeymasterHello,
If this happens only on your server it means that there are no any problems in our theme. As for plugins, we suggest you disable them one by one to see which one causes this error. We can’t know this. If your providers know that it is a plugin issue then they have to know which one exactly. Otherwise how they know that it is some of your plugins?
Regards

ginhimParticipantHey there,
The site is completely not working now… the error message keeps coming up and i cant even login to the theme to uninstall the plugins. Can you please help asap!
November 14, 2016 at 6:12 am #6654
Artem TemosKeymasterHi,
You need to connect your website files with FTP client and rename all plugins one by one in
wp-content/plugins
folder to see which one causes this issue.Regards
November 14, 2016 at 6:14 am #6657
ginhimParticipantHey, I am not sure what you mean by that… So are you saying there is no way to login to the wordpress theme to fix the issue?
November 14, 2016 at 6:21 am #6658
ginhimParticipantI am also not sure what I am supposed to rename the plugins to? Once I figure out what you mean above…
November 14, 2016 at 6:22 am #6659
Artem TemosKeymasterWe mean that in this way you can disable plugin manually. What do you mean by login to theme? How do you want to fix the issue in a theme scope?
November 14, 2016 at 6:24 am #6660
ginhimParticipantSorry, I mean I can’t access the url.com.au/wp-login.php page. The error page keeps coming up so I am unable to login to the site to uninstall or rename the plugins like you mentioned.
The site was working fine until I turned the maintenance mode off. So I thought it was a theme issue.
November 14, 2016 at 6:29 am #6661
Artem TemosKeymasterWe are talking about connecting your website via FTP client like FileZilla and try to disable theme manually (or plugins). Just open the
wp-content/themes
folder and rename it to_basel
for example. This will force WordPress to switch themes. And our maintenance mode can’t impact site performance nohow.Regards
November 14, 2016 at 6:35 am #6662
ginhimParticipantOk cool I’ll try logging into the FTP. How do I uninstall the plugins manually from the FTP? Is it as simple as renaming the plugin folder from revslider to _revslider for example?
November 14, 2016 at 6:41 am #6663
ginhimParticipantAre you also able to please send me the list of plugins the site bust be able to have in order to work? This will help me understand which plugins I can remove.
November 14, 2016 at 6:45 am #6664
Artem TemosKeymasterBetter to disable all plugins and then try to enable them in this order
Basel Post Types
Visual Composer
Redux Framework
CMB2
Revolution slider
WooCommerce
…November 14, 2016 at 7:15 am #6666
ginhimParticipantHi there,
I just tried your suggestion and when activating Redux Framework it froze.
That being said, a developer said that it might be the configuration to the server… do you know what that means?
November 14, 2016 at 7:20 am #6667
ginhimParticipantI really need some support from you guys… I think there is something seriously wrong with this theme as I think its one of the plugins that came with your install that is causing this issue. Are you able to take a look please?
November 14, 2016 at 7:22 am #6668
ginhimParticipantCould it be because the Visual Composer plugin isnt the latest?
November 14, 2016 at 7:49 am #6670
Artem TemosKeymasterLets try to find a solution step by step.
1. Rename our Basel theme folder in the same way you do this with plugins. Check.
2. Maintenance mode can’t impact web-site performance so try to remember what else did you do that made web-site slow.
3. Disable all plugins. Check.
4. Contact your server providers and ask about error logs. 500 us an internal server error and we can’t say what is this caused by without any error logs.
Kind regards

m360ParticipantI would also highly recommend enabling debug mode.

Artem TemosKeymaster@ginhim so did you try our suggestion? What status of the problem now?
November 15, 2016 at 2:57 am #6694
ginhimParticipantI have tried all of those steps. The site is now up but it still very very slow. I also now keep getting 404 error pages when clicking on products in the shop now.
Do you think it could be this custom code making it slow? Is it because of the many server calls?
span.onsale {
display: none;
}November 15, 2016 at 3:00 am #6695
ginhimParticipantThe product page loads and then a few seconds later the 404 ERROR page appears. Check the link to see for yourself.
Should i change host? is it a server issue or a theme issue?
November 15, 2016 at 3:20 am #6696
ginhimParticipantThe issue seems to be happening in firefox only… when you go to a product page it redirects to http://url.com.au/wp-content/themes/images/cursor-zoom.png for some reason? not sure why this is happening now after all of these problems!
November 15, 2016 at 5:55 am #6705
Artem TemosKeymasterHi,
It is difficult to say what it is caused by. We wrote you a few steps you need to do to clarify the situation but see that our theme is still active and all plugins enabled. So did you try our suggestions? What results did you get for each of them? If site is slow even with standard theme you should definitely ask your host providers for help. And you also need to contact them to ask about error logs.
Regards
November 19, 2016 at 3:02 am #6947
ginhimParticipantI changed the site over to a new host and it is working fine now! It was the server all along. Thanks and sorry for all of the questions on this one.
November 19, 2016 at 8:12 am #6957
Artem TemosKeymasterGlad to hear that!
