iamhugoParticipantOk so i have had an issue with site speed since going live and seemed to have found out what is causing it. It seems that having the open categories menu in the navigation drastically slows the site down as it pulls all of the images in page load. Are you aware of this? How do I stop this and fix please?
Slow with categeory menu https://www.acornhorticulture.com/
Fast without category menu https://www.acornhorticulture.com/home/You can see a comparison her of page speed with and without https://gtmetrix.com/compare/xJIID85T/4mQQfDY1

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Checked your site on GTMatrix and here is the result: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.acornhorticulture.com/NtqK6zXw
Please see this screenshot, This is clearly showing in the screenshot that the Speed of the site is slow because of the Images has not been optimized and Compressed and because of JS and CSS has not been minified and because of the Server as well: https://ibb.co/3WWkDtD
And if you Compare Both Sites: With Category Menu and Without Category Menu, In your case you are using most of the data through HTML blocks under the categories menu that’s why the site is loading slowly with categories menu and No Data on Without Category Menu and Content and obviously it work fast as compared with Content site.
In general, our theme is already optimized and doesn’t have too many resources to make your website slow. Most likely, your website performance suffers from the content you have added to your website. It may happen in case of too many plugins, large not optimized images or other resources.
So we suggest you remove unnecessary plugins, install some kind of JS & CSS optimizing plugins like Better WordPress Minify and a caching plugin like WP Super Cache. Also, you can use GTmetrix tool to see what makes your website slow and optimize these parts of your website.
Best Regards.

iamhugoParticipantYou have selected Canada when you should select London as we only sell in the UK.
Also why when the categories menu active does it pull every image in the database?
It does not need to do this!
Is there a way to stop this from happening? All images are small files already.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
It does not relates to this, This is simply your site is not Optimized properly, The Images, CSS, JS and Content.
Please see this screenshot again: https://ibb.co/3WWkDtD
The Speed of the site is slow because of the Images has not been optimized and Compressed and because of JS and CSS has not been minified and because of the Server as well. You have to use Cache plugin for your site.
Hope it make sense now.
Best Regards.

iamhugoParticipantOk do you have some base import settings to use for Better WordPress Minify and WP Super Cache please?

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Sorry to say that but we do not have any recommended setting for those plugins, You can simply use the plugins Doc’s to properly use them on your site.
Best Regards.

iamhugoParticipantCan I just ask though why does having the categories menu active pull every image to the page? it does not make sense!

Artem TemosKeymasterActually, it doesn’t matter if the menu is opened or not, images will be always loaded since they are at the top of your website.
