Support Request: Product Lines with Dedicated Filters

Dear XTemos Support Team,

I need your assistance in setting up a product catalog structure in WoodMart/WooCommerce similar to the one used on the following reference website:

The client would like to organize the product catalog into different **product lines**, with each product line having its own dedicated filtering system.

I would like to start with the following product line:

**SUPPLEMENTS / INTEGRATORI**

Reference page:

https://www.drgiorgini.it/it_it/integratori

### Required structure

On the **Integratori** product archive/category page, I would like to have a **left sidebar** containing two dedicated filters:

* **Physiological Area (Ambito fisiologico)**
* **Product Format (Formato del Prodotto)**

These filters must be specific to the **Integratori** product line.

The important requirement is that the filtering system must be flexible enough to allow each product line to have its own completely different set of filters.

For example:

**Integratori**

* Physiological Area
* Product Format

Whereas another product line, such as **Cosmetics**, will have completely different filters, for example:

* Face
* Body
* Cleansing
* Hydration
* Anti-Age
* Circulation

Therefore, the filters associated with the Integratori line should **not appear on the Cosmetics archive**, and vice versa.

### What I need to achieve

Ideally, I would like the system to work as follows:

1. Each product line is managed as a separate WooCommerce category, taxonomy, or equivalent structure.
2. Each product line can have its own dedicated product attributes/taxonomies.
3. The relevant filters are displayed in the **left sidebar** of the corresponding product archive.
4. Only the filter values actually associated with the products in that product line are displayed.
5. Selecting one or more filters dynamically updates the product listing, preferably using **AJAX filtering** without requiring a full page reload.
6. The system must allow multiple filters to be combined.
7. The same structure should be reusable for the other product lines, while allowing each line to have different filters and filter values.

Could you please explain the **correct way to configure this structure using WoodMart/WooCommerce**?

In particular, I would like to know whether you recommend using:

* WooCommerce product attributes
* Custom taxonomies
* Product categories
* WoodMart AJAX filters
* Layered navigation widgets
* Or another WoodMart-native solution

The main point is that I need the filters to be **context-dependent**, so that the filters displayed on each product-line page are different according to the specific product line.

For now, I would like to focus only on the **Integratori** line and get this structure working correctly before replicating it for the other product lines.

The final goal is to achieve a product filtering system comparable to the structure used on the Dr. Giorgini website.

The structure you described can be achieved using WooCommerce product attributes. You do not need to create a separate filter system for every product.

For your Integratori product line, I recommend the following setup:

1. Create the product attributes

Create the required attributes under Products > Attributes, for example:
– Ambito fisiologico (Physiological Area)
– Formato del Prodotto (Product Format)

Then add the required terms and assign the appropriate terms to your Integratori products.

2. Create the Integratori category
Create Integratori as a WooCommerce product category and assign the relevant products to this category.

3. Add the filters to the Shop Page Widget Area

WoodMart provides the WooCommerce Layered Navigation widget for filtering products by attributes.
Navigate to:
Appearance > Widgets > Shop page widget area

Add the WoodMart/WooCommerce Layered Navigation widget there and select the attribute you want to use for filtering, such as Ambito fisiologico or Formato del Prodotto.

The widget also provides an option to specify where the filter should be displayed, including a specific product category. Therefore, you can configure the filter so that the Integratori-specific filters are displayed only on the Integratori category/archive and are not shown on unrelated product categories.

4. Configure different filters for other product lines

For example, you can configure:
Integratori
– Ambito fisiologico
– Formato del Prodotto
– And for another product line:

Cosmetics
– Face
– Body
– Cleansing
– Hydration
– Anti-Age
– Circulation

The important part is that the products should be correctly assigned to their product category and the relevant attributes/terms. Then the corresponding Layered Navigation widgets can be configured to display in the appropriate category/archive.

Recommended approach

For this requirement, I would recommend using WooCommerce product categories + WooCommerce product attributes + WoodMart Layered Navigation widgets rather than creating custom taxonomies.

You can first configure the Integratori category with its required attributes and filters. Once it is working correctly, you can repeat the same structure for the other product lines, using different attributes and filter widgets where required.

This approach also avoids creating a separate Product Archive layout for every individual category simply to provide different filters.
