Switch Font Awesome light file

I modified Font Awesome light file adding a few icons I need. Now I want to use my file instead of the file bundled with theme. I replaced files in CSS and Fonts directories of theme but this way they will be overwritten on update. Please advice how I can make it in a proper way.

Sorry, but there is no other way to override these files. You can’t simply put them to the child theme as you do with WordPress templates.

Maybe I can use your disable font awesome function and enque it manually via code snippets modifying your code?

You can try to do this but we don’t have a complete guide for such customization.
