Switching to Gutenberg instead of Elementor
-
My website has a large number of products, and using Elementor might cause significant performance issues.
Question 1: If I need to use prebuilt websites, is it necessary to install and use Elementor? For example, if I want to use the marketplace 2 page template, is it mandatory to install and use Elementor?
Question 2: If I switch to Gutenberg, will all my previously built page templates become unusable? Are Woodmart page templates effective with Gutenberg? In other words, are there similar Woodmart page templates for Gutenberg?
Question 3: My website has a large number of products. If I want to improve website performance without using Gutenberg, are there any better solutions recommended?
Thank you very much!
Best regards

Hi there,
1) You don’t need Elementor to use prebuilt websites. Set Gutenberg as the Current builder in Theme Settings -> Other, then import your demo via WoodMart -> Prebuilt Websites. You can import Gutenberg-based demos and additional pages.
2) Switching builders doesn’t convert content. Pages and templates built with Elementor won’t work in Gutenberg and need to be rebuilt. Enable Gutenberg blocks and (optionally) the Gutenberg editor for products in Theme Settings -> Other, and use the Gutenberg Templates Library (Patterns) and Gutenberg-based prebuilt websites/additional pages.
3) For performance with a large number of products, Gutenberg is the better choice. It loads fewer assets and generates lighter markup, so it scales well regardless of catalog size. If you stay with Elementor, avoid mixing multiple builders on the same site to prevent duplicate CSS/JS being loaded.
