Theme license activation

we have purchased the theme a while ago and went to activate it. For our surprise, in the Theme license section, we got the message that the theme is activated and only the option Deactivate theme. We guess the old developer that ditched the project must have entered some kind of license or something. He said that we need to buy the theme and activate it last we spoke. Furthermore, we are unable to update the theme, which is understandable, I guess, if there is something wrong with the activation from the old developer.
We read in the forum, that we need to deactivate and activate the theme again. The thing is, the website is almost ready and there is a lot of custom work than by programmers. We are worried that if we deactivate the theme and then enter the new license, that we actually bought, the website will crush.
What is the best thing to do in this situation? Could you please give us a step by step guide?

Unfortunately, we activated the theme but we are still unable to update it. I am sending some screenshots. On the right is the child theme, is activated. When we try to update the theme on the right, we get the message you see in the second picture.

1. Download the most recent WoodMart version from your ThemeForest account.
2. Go to Appearance -> Themes -> Add new
3. Click on the “Upload theme” button and then choose the theme installable zip file in the form.
4. Click on “Install now.“
5. WordPress will show you information about your existing version. Click on the “Replace current with uploaded” button.Best Regards

At first, the key was used to activate a child theme of the Woodmart theme instead of Woodmart itself. After your last response, we followed the steps and the child theme was deactivated. We tried to activate the original Woodmart theme with the same key, but this time we got this message.

Child and Parent themes are not different, it’s the same theme, child theme just gives the ability for customization via Theme File Editor, that is all.
Navigate to your account on our website https://prnt.sc/SkwP4D5vxSlm and check for which domains you have activated the license key.

As for the reason why you can’t update it, it’s because you want to update very old version, in such cases the best is to update the theme manually. If you do not mind, may I update the theme on your side?
