hello when we update the theme goes back to english. However, we use a child theme but translates the parent theme. We cannot translate the child theme with loco translate because the Po file appears empty.

    Hello,

Theme translations would be lost when you update the theme. That’s why we always Recommend to take a complete backup of the website before updating the theme.

Let me explain again. Let’s take an example you are using English for US language on your site, and the language files are en_US.po and en_US.mo, Now rename those files as woodmart-en_US.po and woodmart-en_US.mo and place those language files under wp-content/languages/themes It will not be overridden again when ever you will update the Theme same as for other languages you are using.

    Best Regards

hello thank you for your feedback but it does not work. If we rename our files as you told us, the translation no longer works. Second question, should it be added to the languages child or parent languages diossier? We also tried both.

    Thanks

    Hello

    #289048

    Hello,

The language files are already named in the format as I suggested to you in my last reply.

Now the translations will not be lost after you update the theme. Please take a complete backup of the website and try to update the theme.

    Regards.

Should they be put in the child folder to avoid overwriting? and the woodmart.Pot file is useless?

    Thanks

    #304568

    Hello,

No, the translation file doesn’t need to be put in the child folder. And the .POT file is the main translation file,it’s not useless.
