Translation of strings using WPML

Hello,
I am developing a site which will be Spanish(Main Language) and English (Switching using WPML). However your theme is originally in English.
So I am considering two different options:
– Should I develop the site in English(Main Language) translate all strings and pages, and then switch to Spanish as main language. I don`t want to lose all my content
– Can I develop the site in main Language (spanish) and still find the way to translate the strings?. My problem is that if I develop it in Spanish, website will detect that current strings are spanish and they are really English.
Which is the best way of facing this situation?

Using WPML plugin you can create translation just in the site.
Please contact WPML and ask if it is possible to import translation file and how to do that.
