Trying to add GA4 events to GTM fails to get data

I tried to add the following code to the theme’s functions.php file to get the data for some variables, but it never works, and I suspect it’s a theme compatibility issue:
In the meantime, I’ve added a jQuery dependency in functions.php
But it never gets the data properly.
Keep an eye out for the picture I attached.
