upsell/cross-sell/related products

Hi,
on my product pages I can see “upsell products” but not “cross-sell products”, instead I see related products that I don’t know where to determine.
Could you tell me what I have to do to visualize my “cross-sell producs” and where I can define the related ones?

Related products and up-sells are shown on the product page, cross-sells products are shown in the cart.

OK, I see.
And would it be a way to show any of this kind of products (upsells, cross-sells…) at the left-side of the big picture (I’m using compact product page design) where I now have a widget (Single product page Widget Area) (see attached)
