ha21cnParticipantWhen I’m editing categories using Elementor, I’m finding that I can’t sort the categories. How can I fix this? I’m referring to custom sorting.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Try changing the order of the categories in the backend by dragging and dropping from Products >> Categories.

ha21cnParticipantI think you didn’t understand what I meant. I meant setting it in a separate HTML block, not in WooCommerce. WPBakery has this feature, but I didn’t find it in Elementor.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
When using the Woodmart Product Categories widget in Elementor, the sorting options depend on the data source and the Order By / Sort Order settings within the widget panel itself.
If you’ve selected Custom Query as the data source, you can control the category order by adjusting these two options in the widget settings:
Order By – choose what you want to sort the categories by, such as:
ID, Date, title, menu order, last modified order.
Sort Order – choose whether to sort them in ascending or descending order.

ha21cnParticipantHowever, I did not see any settings for Menu Order.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
You can adjust the order of categories from the Elementor from this widget settings; there is no other option to change the category order in Elementor. https://postimg.cc/rKpdjNmY

ha21cnParticipantSo Elementor doesn’t allow manual rearranging of Categories like WPBakery does, and can only be set by input?

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Please share the page URL and specify which category you would like to add or rearrange. Also, provide admin login details, so I can check the configuration directly on your site and provide you a possible solution.

In WPBakery, product categories can be freely ordered, and slugs are visible, making it easy to identify product categories with the same name but different parent categories. However, in Elementor, product categories cannot be freely ordered, and it’s impossible to identify product categories with the same name but different parent categories, making it difficult to accurately find the product categories I need.

For example, in the screenshot, I cannot put Japan before Portugal.November 19, 2025 at 10:18 am #696649
Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Elementor does not support manual sorting of product categories inside the widget. It sorts automatically, so categories with the same name appear identical. You can reorder categories globally in WordPress. This is not a compatibility problem with the theme. The reason is simply that WPBakery and Elementor use different native controls for category selection.

Because the parent categories of different categories are different, it’s impossible to modify the sorting in Worldpress, and we don’t see a way to set product category sorting in WooCommerce either. Don’t you have a solution? I tried creating multiple product category components to solve this problem, but the effect wasn’t the same as displaying a single product category component. How can I solve this issue?November 19, 2025 at 2:47 pm #696731
Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Can you please share some screenshots or examples of what you actually want, so I can further check and give you a possible solution?

ha21cnParticipantI’ve provided enough screenshots and shown you how to do it; I don’t quite understand what you need. I’ve also created a sample page on my website, and I’ve provided the login username and password. I just want to customize the sorting on your Product Categories and don’t want to modify anything in WooCommerce.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Unfortunately, there is no such option.
You can leave a future request here – https://woodmart.canny.io/feature-requests so our developers will take it into account.

ha21cnParticipantSo the reason this feature is missing is because your support for Elementor isn’t as comprehensive as your support for WPBakery, right? That’s why WPBakery allows you to freely arrange the order, but Elementor doesn’t.

Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Sorry but no option in this widget to sort automatically. If you want this feature you can leave a future request so our developers will take it into account.

ha21cnParticipantI’m referring to custom sorting, not automatic sorting. Also, I saw an option to sort by Menu Order; where is the Menu Order setting located? I didn’t see that setting.
November 21, 2025 at 9:22 am #697029
Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
Edit Product Categories Widget Settings > Scroll down to the Order By section > In the Order By dropdown, select Menu Order.
Adjust the Order option (Ascending/Descending) to control the display.
This will allow you to control the categories based on the Menu Order you’ve set in WooCommerce(Products > categories). This is the way it works.

ha21cnParticipantI have already submitted an application in your new feature section. What I want to confirm is that the sorting method implemented by Elementor is currently not the same as that of WPBakery, right?
November 21, 2025 at 1:12 pm #697078
Aizaz Imtiaz AwanKeymasterHello,
It is working the same on both Elementor and WP Bakery.
For your clarification, I have tested it on our test site.
