variable product on category page

Hi
I have variable products and want to show the product in different colors in archive page.
Most products only have have 1 attribute variation – color.
But there are some products which also have size attribue – so it contains 2 variations (size and color).
These products are displayed on the archive page as different products, so for example – red color is displayed 5 times becuase it has 5 sizes.
It should only be displayed once, as it’s 1 color, why does it also show each size as a different product in the archive?
Please advise

The “Show single variation” option has such work, the product has the “Size” variation, therefore, option splits this into different products as well. You can disable it via Theme Settings -> Shop -> Product variations.

The whole point is to show the different products in the archive page.
If I choose the “color” variation to be displayed on the archive page, how come sizes variations are also displayed on the archive page?
There is a logic to show the colors becuase most times they have different images, but sizes most times doesn’t have different images.
So I understand that it splits all variation but we need some logic begind this feature, and there is absolutely no logic to show the same product 7 times with different sizes and same image.
In UX terms I would expect to see 2 different colors of the same product, and when I choose the color in the archive page I should choose the size in the single page.

If my request is not logical to you, and you believe it’s not relevant to all users, please guide me how I can customize the code so it will show colors only.

At the moment, the option cannot work in another way because at the time of product output, we cannot know whether 2 variations have different images, but for each variation, we have the option to hide it in the archive which you can use:

ok it might be a solution. but then if I remove all variations (becuase all of them have both color and size) – I must show the parent product in the archive, otherwise this product will never be displayed on the archive page.

My goal is to show the variation colors without the parent products, so what am I supposed to do in this case that I disable all variations in archive page?

ok I managed to achieve what I needed by setting 2 extra variations for color with any size and only these 2 are displayed in the archive using that checkbox.
However, I set a gallery for each variation but when it’s clicked from the archive it shows the product’s main gallery instead of the variation gallery.

My goal is that if the user clicks the white short he will see all the images of the white shirt.
The correct gallery is displated only after the size variation is also get selected.
But I don’t understand why, becuase I set a gallery for this variation.

Please navigate to Products -> Attributes -> in the settings of the attribute enable the “Change product image on attribute click” option, then recheck the issue.

It fixed the issue with switching between the black and white color.
But the issue that the variation gallery is not displayed when clicking the variable product on archive page still remains.
If they clicked white shirt on the archive page. they want to see the white shirt images, so why is the main product gallery displayed instead of the variation gallery?
