Variant image gallery switches image for -some- products, not all?

    Hello,

    This is a slightly puzzling problem we’re having with a new client being on-boarded.

    Essentially, we’re noticing an odd pattern as our client adds variant images to their products (primarily clothes).

    When there are *few* variants, picking a color from the swatch will swap to the correct variant image immediately. If there are *many* colour variants, we need to pick both color and size for the switch to occur, and it seems like we need to have the variant images set for *every* variant of the same color. For the few variant products, assigning to just one of the sizes is fine.

    Hey Luke,

    I can confirm this still happens when swapping to the parent theme.

    The odd thing for me is that it seems to work on products with few (less than 20) variants.
