Very Very slow performance

after we did all the recent updates the website at http://www.prestetools.com is EXTREMELY slow, but only on pages where products appear ( for example the homepage and the eshop page plus all the single product pages.

If you load any other page WITHOUT products then the site loads super fast.

Here is a list of things we have tried so far to solve the issue :

– We updated everything to the latest version
– We tried PHP 7.0 and 7.1
– We moved to a very fast server with SSD, lots of ram and CPU cores.
– We Deactivated ALL plugins ( see video here https://www.useloom.com/share/b89a15de6e324b1f9e9b09e60fca10d3 . Super slow performance even with no plugins activated but Woocommerce and two more from your theme )
– We tried to deactivate all products and leave only one product on our eshop. Same slow speed
– We reuploaded all the plugins and tyheme files.

Still no luck.

Other things we tried
We changed the theme to the wordpress default theme and everything works fine
We tried another woocommerce theme and it loads super fast
We switched to Basel. Things got super slow again.

Please note that when we changed themes the Time To First Byte was fast but once we activated your theme again we get 17+ seconds initial wait times!

Again, let us note that this happens only with pages that contain products.
We have to rule out the product images size because they are optimized and the problem remained even with one product active.

Also we deactivated the SSL. Same problem.
Note also that we got no error at the server log files ( nginx – apache from Plesk )

We will provide admin access for you to take a look and if you also need FTP let us know.

Hi,

Try to disable swatches attribute to be shown on products grid via Theme Settings -> Shop -> Attributes swatches and check again.

Hello again.

First of all thanks. I though I had to turn off the switch but I then realized that I had to hit the small X at the dropdown menu.

Now the theme works like this.

If We clear the W3 Total Cache the first time a page that contains products is loaded in 10-12 seconds. The next visitor that will visit this page will have it loaded in about 2-3 seconds which is fine.

I have attached some screenshots.

Any idea how we can fix that as well because every time we have to clear the cache the whole site becomes slow when a page is loaded for the first time after the cache clearance.

Please, disable all external plugins that are not related to our theme and switch to the parent theme so we can test it.

– We tried the basel with only Three Plugins ( see screenshot ). 4-5 seconds to first byte
– We tried Franco theme with only Three Plugins ( see screenshot ). Very fast response
– We tried DFD Native theme with only Three Plugins ( see screenshot ). Very fast response
– We tried Neighborhood theme with only Three Plugins ( see screenshot ). Very fast response
– We tried again the basel with only Three Plugins ( see screenshot ). 4-5 seconds to first byte

Try to set smaller size for your product image in Appearance -> Customize -> WooCommerce -> Product images and save.

It looks like it’s faster now.

We will keep an eye on it and will let you know by tomorrow how is the performance.

We are interested in purchasing two more licenses for two new client projects and I would like to ask the following:

A) The problem was the swatches option and the size of the thumbnails?
B) Do you recommend going with Basel from now on or we should switch to Woodmart ?

A. Yes, it seems to be a problem that images were not generated.

B. We can’t recommend you here and you need to see which one is better for you and decide on your own.
