    Hello WoodMart Support Team,

I am having an issue updating the WoodMart theme on my WordPress website.

When I try to update WoodMart from the WordPress dashboard, the update fails with the following error:

    “Update failed: Download failed. Forbidden.”

I have already checked the WordPress filesystem permissions, and all the required directories are writable, including:

    wp-content — Writable
    uploads — Writable
    plugins — Writable
    themes — Writable
    Must-Use Plugins — Writable

    My current server configuration is:

    Web Server: LiteSpeed
    Operating System: Linux
    PHP Version: 8.1.34
    PHP SAPI: litespeed
    PHP Memory Limit: 1 GB
PHP Maximum Execution Time: 300 seconds
    Max Input Variables: 3000
    Max Upload Size: 256 MB
    Max POST Size: 256 MB
    cURL Version: 8.21.0
    OpenSSL: 1.1.1w
    Imagick: Available

There does not appear to be a filesystem permission or PHP resource limitation issue.

Could you please check why the WoodMart update package is returning a 403 Forbidden response and whether the issue is related to my WoodMart license/activation, the update server, or a server-side security mechanism such as ModSecurity/WAF?

Please let me know if you need any additional information, error logs, or temporary access to the website in order to investigate the issue.

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Best regards,
    Mohamed

    Hi there,

The 403 Forbidden response is related to download authorization or the server connection, rather than WordPress filesystem permissions.

Please refresh the theme activation as follows:

    – Navigate to WoodMart → Theme License and deactivate the license.
    – Go to Dashboard → Updates and click Check Again.
    – Return to WoodMart → Theme License and activate the theme using your purchase code.
    – Go back to Dashboard → Updates, click Check Again, and retry the update.

    Kind regards,

Have an extra request on this topic – I have multiple Woodmart purchases for my clients, so trying to track down which code can be a bit of a hassle (just noticed Themeforest doesn’t list the dates on the Downloads page either).

Possible to list the ‘last xxx digits’ of the license code or something similar? That way it’s easier to figure out which code for which site if this occurs?

    Thanks!
