harshweParticipantHello Luke,
We are planning to switch our site to Elementor Page builder. So, If we switch to Elementor from WPBakery, then-
1. Can we achieve the same site, as we currently have with WPBakery. Like FAQ and Contact Us page.
https://www.vasangini.com/contact-us/
https://www.vasangini.com/faq/
https://i2.paste.pics/HL9IY.png2. Is Elementor Free faster than WPBakery. Or viceversa. I mean in terms of speed and loading of pages (Product page, standard pages, shop)
3. Is Elementor Pro faster than WPBakery. Or viceversa.
4. If we use Elementor Pro, then will it affect overall speed of website, as compared to current site (which is using WPBakery).
How much impact will it have on speed. If it is hardly noticeable, then it can be OK for us.
5. Will Elementor Pro have more options, features and Elements than WPBakery free version.6. How much time it will take to convert from WPBakery to Elementor Free or Pro
7. Can you please guide me with the steps.Regards

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
1. Yep, elements from the “Elementor” have the same possibilities as on the WB Bakery.
2. They have approximately the same speed.
3. I cannot tell exactly but maybe the “Pro” version is a little bit faster than WPB.
I suggest you read the below official article which can describe it better that me.
https://elementor.com/help/elementor-pro-vs-free/
5. Yep, the “Elementor Pro” has its own elements. In the above article, they also describe features of the “Pro” version.
6. It already depends on you, but in general, I think that working with the Elementor is easier.
7. Of course, let me know about some issues and I will try to help you!
Kind Regards

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
6. I cannot tell you exactly how long will it take.
7. You can just change your page builder via Dashboard -> Plugins, and start to create another page (e.g Home page).
Also, define another “Home ” page via Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading.
So then edit your page and click on the “Edit with Elementor” button and create it as you want.
https://gyazo.com/0d4992baa6da2b3e2294ebd9088b8038
Also, you can import another dummy content after changing the page builder and it will already be imported with the compatibility of the active page builder.
Let me know if you have some questions.
Kind Regards

harshweParticipantHello Luke,
Thank you for all the information.
7. You suggested –
…and start to create another page (e.g Home page).
Do you mean to say, we have to create another Home page from scratch (say, if we want to create just Home page only, using the Elementor) And cannot use the Existing Home page, by any means.
Or else, we can simply Re-Edit (or Edit), the existing Home page, with the Elementor (that has already been created with the WPB, earlier )
Please share your valuable suggestion.
And suggest, what is the preferred way.7.b). Also, do I have to first Disable the WPB and then have to Install the Elementor plugin. Or else,I can have both the Builder plugins simultaneously, at a time.

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
Pages that were built by Elementor will not work with the WBP or vice versa. Therefore you need to create a new page and create it with another page builder.
You cannot just re-edit the page because all your work will be lost (I mean in this case you need to remove your content).
This is how the page looks like, which was made with the help of another builder.
https://gyazo.com/457168fd54bdb4ad2f4420e403d7c3c0
So I suggest you do not re-edit or delete the home page that was built by WPB because maybe in the future you will want to come back to use WPB and in this case, you will not have to create this page for WPB again.
You can’t enable both plugins because then both won’t work so you need to activate one of them. Also, you can install Elementor and then disable WPB.
Kind Regards

harshweParticipantHello Luke,
Thank you for wonderful explanation.
Much thanks for giving suggestions and about precautions while switching between buildersRegarding Home page. I understand, and I can create a New one, as it can easily be assigned again, and URL will automatically be same for Home page, that is the domain name itself.
But wanted to know, how shall we proceed with other static pages. Like FAQ, About Us, and similar ones. As our site is already Live and has already been submitted to search engines. And already have Meta info (like meta Title, meta desc.), and crawling and indexing has been done too,
What will happen in this case. I think creating New page will disrupt it and may not help.
What is your suggestion, in this case, and for these static pages. What I myself thinking is – Shall I 1st copy the whole content of existing FAQ or About Us page page in a New separate page (to be put in draft mode) by using text tab (besides visual), and then save those New pages as Draft.
(So, just in case, if it requires later, we can then use them back with WPB again)
https://i2.paste.pics/HOG07.pngThereafter, I can then Edit those same existing Live pages with Elementor, so as to keep the same URL, Title, Meta info (Meta Title, desc.) intact.
As well as the Search Engine indexing will remain as it is too.
Otherwise, we will have to submit the Newly created pages again, and have to wait for crawling and indexing too. And will have to Re-adjust the URL of each to match with existing one.Is this the good idea, or else, you have some other better idea and approach for such static pages.
Similarly, what shall be the Better approach and good idea for Single Product pages.
Shall I First Export the existing products from Products > Export button and then Re-edit each of the existing Product.
https://i2.paste.pics/HOG0L.pngOr else, shall I directly copy Only the content (using same above method from Text tab) of each product. (currently there are about 55 products) and then Save them either locally in each file separately, or New pages, with the Draft mode.

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
First of all, you can create these static pages and only then define their links to the appropriate fields. And also, will be better to change the page builder on the staging site so you can check how it will work.
Yep, you can save a shortcode and past it in another page. It’s a good idea.
The thing is that products from WooCommerce are not editable via page builder, therefore you can change there only content that was built via page builder (e.g content in the description tab).

…and only then define their links to the appropriate fields.
What does appropriate fields refer here. Can you please suggest with screenshots. I think there is some sort of misunderstanding. Can you please read my above message again.
b).
…you can save a shortcode and past it in another page
And what does Shortcode refers here. I think I did not get your point. Which shortcode we are are referring
c)
…WooCommerce are not editable via page builder
I am referring to Description and Short description area.
Can you please suggest a better approach on this-

Luke NielsenKeymasterHello,
7a. I meant that after creating a new page, define it in your menu.
https://gyazo.com/0eebe80f962d3ff7b37086807887545f
b) It’s a shortcode: https://gyazo.com/4174b5604c58a3cd6fcfe56c12380ed1
c) For this point, I cannot tell exactly what will be better, I think will be better to test it on the staging site but for me, I think it better to export products and then re-edit each.
Kind Regards
