Add JS to 404 page

I need to track with a new tracking plugin when someone reaches our 404 page, and to do that I need to add some JS code to the 404 page.

Can you tell me how I can add some code to the 404 page which will not be overwritten.
Or is there a snippet I can use to target the 404 page, which I can ad my script to?

you can load the js code wherever you want, page, post etc
