Add Quantity button to Loop items next to 'Add to Cart'

I’m not using wishlist so I want to add a quantity button beside ‘Add to Cart’ on archive loops.

I changed the button html on line 11 to: <button type=”submit” name=”add-to-cart” class=”single_add_to_cart_button button alt”>

When I use this function it doesn’t add anything to the cart but the sidebar cart widget pops out anyways. Is there anyway to get that to work with the ajax cart?
