Ajax product search – categories

Hi, i’ve done some searching but couldnt find an answer;
I have the ajax search with category drop down, i would like it to only display parent categories. I have over 200 child categories so so i want to only show the parent categories (4x parent cats)
This should be quite simple to achieve, but i don’t know how,

Hi, its currently in staging and not live for others to view at the moment. The element i’m talking about is the woodmart ajax search. (3rd from the top on far left of the screenshot at the top of this page: https://xtemos.com/docs/woodmart/shortcodes-2/).
It seems odd that we cannot choose the categories it displays.

The document you linked to says;
The search element in the Header builder has the option to show the list of categories existing on the site. This list cannot be edited.
I know this already, im asking if any work around exists? A php snippet for example?
If this cannot be edited then woodmart is useless to me and I will need to find a new theme 🙁

You can disable showing the categories in the search and add the Product category element in the header builder that shows the Product category menu created in Appearance > Menu. You can add the categories you wish.
