Hi there! I’m having a bit of a website issue and I was hoping you could lend a hand. My category pages keep turning into 404 error pages, which means visitors can’t find them.

The strange thing is, I’ve already checked with my server provider, Cloudways, and they confirmed everything is running smoothly on their end. To troubleshoot further, I even deactivated all my plugins with their help, except for WooCommerce (which is essential for my online store) and Elementor (my page builder). Even with a minimal setup, the category pages still disappear as 404s!

Here’s the kicker: the category pages work perfectly when I switch away from the Woodmart theme. So, it seems like there might be a conflict between Woodmart and my category setup.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it? I’d really appreciate any help you can offer!

Cloudways did this for me before you responded, but the category page never worked. Could you please let me know what cause this? And next time, if a similar situation occurs again, I can have a clearer idea of the cause and possible solutions

We are glad that you sorted it out. The problem was caused by an empty custom layout created in Dashboard -> WoodMart -> Layouts. We disabled it and now it works correctly. If you want to use our custom layouts you need to fill it with shop page elements. Read more information in our documentation https://xtemos.com/docs-topic/shop-page-builder/

Let me know if the issue is solved or you have any extra questions I can help you with.

    Hey Artem,

Thanks so much for your help! I was able to change the rating.

One quick thing, though. Could you double-check something for me? We didn’t touch the “Layout” section at all, but my entire category page is redirecting to a 404 error again.

Look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,

    Vicky

    Hello,

Yes, we see the problem now. But it seems to be caused by some of the installed plugins. Could you please temporarily disable all plugins that are not related to our theme so we can test how it works?

    Kind Regards

The page is back to normal, but my category page often turns to 404 from time to time without any changes I make

It’s weird, but since category pages are related to WooCommerce, we don’t know what caused this. Try to find out which actions were taken before this happened. We are almost sure that it is caused by some of the plugins installed on your website.
