Category Auto Thumbnail

Hi i am trying to use a plugin that automatically generates a thumbnail for each category but unfortunatley while its active it displays a thumbnail for the category then directly underneath it is another placeholder thumbnail generated by the theme. Is there any way we could get that plugin working properly or edit the code of the theme to use the icon set for the category as the thumbnail or something like that. I have way to many categories to be doing them one by one.
