Category description not visible

Hello,
I would like to add a text to each category page. I can store the text in the categories (as text or HTML block), but it is not displayed. Do I have to activate this somewhere? I am using the Vegetables design as a basis here.

It seems the custom layout for archive pages is enabled. If so, please go to Layouts and edit product layouts and you can use Archive description to display categories’s descriptions https://ibb.co/16BTp4Y
